Therapeutic Massage

Touch has long been known as a healing modality. Trained touch, in the form of therapeutic massage, is one of the most powerful tools for releasing tension, healing specific conditions, or exploring the mind-body connection. Massage received on a regular basis is a commitment you can make to improved self-care, healing of body and soul, and a greater sense of feeling at home in your body.

Massage can:

  • Reduce stress
  • Relax the body
  • Provide healthy nurturing
  • Raise body awareness and attention to feelings and stresses
  • Help detoxify the muscles and tissues
  • Improve circulation
  • Improve the flexibility of joints and connective tissue
  • Improve and balance the energy flow throughout the body
  • Reduce the chance of injury in active people

Massage may be covered by auto insurance or Worker's Compensation after an accident or injury. Sliding scale and package discounts are available to make treatment affordable for cash-paying clients.

Massage therapy can be used with a variety of intentions, including:

Relaxation
In our stress-filled world, everyone can benefit from setting aside a period of time to let go of worries, to relax, and to simply receive. What better gift can you give yourself or a loved one? While on vacation, or as a short vacation from your normal routine, treat yourself to a relaxing, rejuvenating massage.

Rehabilitation
Conditions that often respond well to massage include:

  • Headaches
  • Low back or neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • Sinus congestion
  • Chronic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Intestinal disorders
  • Whiplash
  • Sprains and strains
  • Edema
  • Hypertension
  • Respiratory congestion
  • Injuries
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Any stress-related symptoms

Body/Mind Integration
Many of us do not connect what we feel in our bodies to what we think or feel emotionally. However, Body, Mind, and Spirit are truly one.

Strongly held beliefs, conscious or not, physical or emotional trauma, negative messages from ourselves or others, and unexpressed feelings can all be stored in the body's tissues. This can lead to physical symptoms and a blocking of the body's energy flow. Over a period of time, massage can help to unwrap those areas, ventilating the feelings brought to consciousness and allowing exploration of emotional issues in a safe and nurturing environment.

While there is no rule that one has to deal with these things, if you are interested in expanding self-understanding and feeling more comfortable in your body, massage can be a useful tool to help in that process.

Bodywork

Our bodywork sessions typically include a blending of deep, yet gentle, massage techniques, CranioSacral Therapy, and Lymph Drainage Therapy designed to meet your individual needs.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)

This is a light touch, hands-on therapeutic modality that releases restrictions in the fascia, or connective tissue, that surround the brain and spinal cord. When these restrictions are released, the nervous system is able to function at its most efficient level for improved physical, energetic, and emotional balance.

For more information on this therapy, see the CranioSacral Therapy page.

Lymph Drainage Therapy

Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) involves a light touch with a wave-like rhythmic movement that enhances the body’s ability to move fluids. It is a very comfortable and relaxing treatment that can be performed on its own or in the same session as other techniques.
